The December Parlour

It always surprises me that this original piece hasn't found its forever home at my exhibitions yet, especially because the greeting cards and prints of this exact room always sell out completely!

I think people just connect with that nostalgic, magical feeling of a home at Christmastime. I loved painting the sweeping curve of this grand bay window, using a warm, buttery gold for the walls to create a cosy glow. The absolute joy of this piece was sitting down with a fine pen to decorate the big Christmas tree, tucking tiny wrapped gifts underneath, and detailing the floral pelmets and patterned vintage rug.

Created with gouache and pen on watercolour paper, this original artwork is full of tiny hand-drawn details and layered textures. It brings to life a sanctuary for the senses…a room that feels wonderfully familiar, peaceful, and layered with memories.
